Health management
At the Monogatari Corporation, our long-term management vision is "to give priority to the dignity of the individual over the organization, and bring vitality to the world with a big smile and heartfelt energy." We believe that when each employee has a rich and happy “personal story,” it will lead to the achievement of that vision, and that health management is an indispensable element to make their stories happen. In 2021, we formulated our Health Management Declaration, and since then have been strategically raising our employees' health literacy and setting in place an environment that values the promotion of health. In recognition of our efforts, the Monogatari Corporation has been certified as an “Excellent Corporation for Health Management (Large Enterprise Category)” for three consecutive years.

Health Management Policy
The Monogatari Corporation formulated its Health Declaration in 2021, and since then has been making strategic efforts to achieve health management. We aim to become a company that is more needed by our customers and society by helping our employees work in good mental and physical health and lead healthy lives in a hygienic environment, which in turn will result in the enhancement of our corporate value.

The Monogatari Corporation is committed to creating an environment in which each and every one of our employees can live a rich and happy “personal story,” to move ahead with health maintenance and promotion activities, uniting the company, our employees and their families to work together as one, and promoting the creation of healthy lifestyles.

Health Management Promotion System
The President and Chief Executive Officer serves as the person in charge of health management, and promotes health management for the benefit of company management. The executive in charge of health management provides reports on the results to the President and Chief Executive Officer, who is responsible for health management, and advances with initiatives for the management of health while cooperating with the health management promotion secretariat in particular, as well as the health committee and the employee representative. The health management promotion secretariat holds exchanges with insurers, in particular with psychiatrists and occupational health physicians, and supports the health of the employees working at all the offices and stores of the group. They will also install a health management system that, on top of making it easy to confirm the results of health checkups and stress checks, will also create a system in which it is easy for employees to have consultations through channels such as email, telephone, or online communication with occupational health physicians and “Anshin Consultation Office + Plus,” which is located in the Human Resources Support Department.
We have created a strategic map with a focus on our long-term management vision, and are taking various health measures with the goal of improving the performance of our employees.
Health management strategic map
Efforts related to the prevention of lifestyle diseases
We conduct regularly scheduled health checkups for employees, including partners who are members of social insurance. For employees who are age 35 or over, we set up medical examinations for the prevention of lifestyle disease, and prepare medical examination items for cancer screenings. While the percentage of regularly scheduled health checkups taken is 100%, we were not aware of the situation regarding employees who are in need of a reexamination or who require a complete examination, and therefore, we have started making efforts this year to grasp the situation.
The results of regularly scheduled health checkups have indicated that there are employees at risk of high blood pressure or hyperglycemia, posing a major issue to the prevention of lifestyle diseases for us. In order to prevent the onset of serious diseases, we have set a goal of reducing the number of people at risk of each of these diseases. In the results of the regularly scheduled health checkups in 2023, we learned that 2.1% of all of our employees have a systolic blood pressure of 160 mm Hg or higher. Among those under 35 years of age, 0.4% were found to be among those at risk. We are providing health guidance to our young employees (those 35 years old or younger) as well in order to prevent the onset of serious diseases in the future.
Efforts related to mental health
In fiscal 2022, the percentage of employees taking time off due to a mental health illness was 3.95%, with maladjustment to environmental changes being the most common cause found when analyzing the reasons. In response to this situation, we have expanded the number of people who are eligible for the Pulse Survey, and also increased the number of members of the “Anshin Consultation Office + Plus,” strengthening both early detection and the system that allows employees to make a consultation without hesitation and thereby reinforcing the systems that provide our employees with peace of mind.
In the results of our group survey that checks employee stress levels, we had an overall score of 86 (compared to the national industry average of 103.4), including a score for support by coworkers and supervisors that was higher than the national average, reflecting our company’s internal culture and atmosphere. Going forward, we will continue to make efforts for the promotion of the good health of our employees while maintaining and improving our culture and atmosphere.
Efforts related to the health of women
We conducted an online training course related to women’s health for the purposes of increasing understanding of women’s health and creating a comfortable working environment. We have not yet reached 100% with the participation rate, so we are working to strengthen awareness within the company and to promote understanding throughout the entire company.
Also, starting in September 2023, we have introduced an employee benefit program for all female employees that fully subsidizes the cost of taking low-dose pills. This initiative is just one of our efforts to promote the active participation of women.
Efforts related to Smoking Cessation
Regularly scheduled health checkups in fiscal 2023 established that the percentage of smokers among our employees is 29.7% (23.9% in fiscal 2022, as compared to the national average for the same year of 16.7%). This means that we have a high percentage of employees who smoke.
We have already established a smoking ban during working hours, and have started awareness activities for quitting smoking using the in-house portal starting in 2023. Going forward, we will improve our policies in cooperation with public health nurses, and conduct improvements in conjunction with presenting the health effects of quitting smoking to our employees.
Status of paid leave taken and overtime worked
The "ESG Data Collection" shows the transition from FY2020.
Efforts to prevent overwork hours
Building on a base of compliance with laws and regulations, the Monogatari Corporation promotes the work-life balance of our employees to enable the auspicious efforts of a diverse workforce, and aims to build a space where they can work efficiently and productively. In order to achieve this end, we are promoting the reduction of non-scheduled working hours and conducting fixed-point observations of employees who work long hours of overtime. In addition, we conduct interviews with the persons responsible in departments where employees are working long hours of overtime to encourage improvements. Furthermore, seeking to prevent health issues caused by long working hours, we have lowered the legally stipulated criteria for having a consultation with an occupational health physician for those who are working in excess of the 80 hours per month, and are conducting consultations with occupational health physicians for those who are working in excess of the 60 hours per month.
